On April 25, 2015, delegates from across the world gathered to mark the official opening of luxury real estate development Pearns Point.
Pearns Point is Antigua’s undiscovered treasure, and a true jewel of the Caribbean. Its green hills and crystal waters set the scene for a prestigious event at which 200 delegates listened to speeches from key members of the Antiguan Government as well as from the Owners of Pearns Point, Albert Hartog and Rene Boon.
Orange Limited Chairman Albert Hartog opened proceedings with a brief but meaningful statement expressing pride in the ‘beautiful project’, and thanking the many contributors to Pearns Point’s success, and praising the island’s administration:
“I am proud of Antigua and Barbuda, a country with a Government that has shown us a lot of support and has continuously been working with us in a very positive manner to make this project a success”
Rene Boon, also of Orange Limited, built on Hartog’s sentiments and said:
“it is an honor to be welcomed again here in Antigua and to share some of the great announcements we have in store for you today.
Many of you have asked us about progress in the project since the groundbreaking two years ago. Admittedly, the process has been slow, but this year we are really making leaps forward.”
He went on to note how strides had been made in the island’s infrastructure, and announced the design of three new showhomes, images of which can be found on our Gallery page.
One of the most exciting proceedings of the day was the signing of an agreement between Orange Limited and The Miami Setai Hotel and Resort, part of the GHM Hotel Group, who will operate the 5 star luxury hotel on the southern coast of Pearns Point.
Finally, The Honourable Gaston Browne, Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda spoke of the huge boost Pearns Point will bring to the Antiguan Economy, and of the pride he takes in facilitating the project:
“I am very pleased with the progress that has been made. I am sure that you will agree with me that this is one of the best sites that you can find anywhere in the world, it is amazingly beautiful… This project will become the epitome of elegance and of beauty.
I want to take this opportunity to signal the full support of my government work along with the developers and Orange Limited… and to support the overall development of this project.
I am told that there are several international celebrities who have already purchased real estate on this most beautiful piece of real estate… I have been advised that this project will see approximately USD$300m invested over a period of five to ten years… creating significant opportunity for the people of Antigua and Barbuda.”
The Pearns Point Project will create hundreds of jobs for native Antiguans, and will set the island apart of one of the world’s most premier tourist destinations.
Tourism Minister Asot Michael also spoke to delagates, saying that the project, spanning 7 beaches and 137 acres of land, shows the confidence of investors in Antigua and Barbuda.
“Competing islands of the Caribbean, developed states in Asia and the Far East all present alternative locations for your capital… your selection of Antigua and Barbuda is a credit, not only to the nation and its people, but its government.”
After general thanks were paid to all those who helped to make the day possible, guests were invited to enjoy the incredible location over a fine lunch in the Antiguan sun.
